Things I’m Loving

1. My Valentines Day Prezzies
Seriously, my man just gets me. Antique food styling props I mean have you ever? I don’t think theres a red rose in the world that can compare for me. It’s not just the actual gift (although they are very well chosen) it’s that he knows what lights me up and is my biggest fan. That means everything to me.

2.House Hunting
We are looking for a house. When we met Corey and I worked on a yacht together and shared a cabin that was teeny tiny.

The bathroom was practically a shower and toilet in one and you had to pull the basin out over the toilet to use it. We slept on bunkbeds and would cuddle for a few minutes before me climbing down to my own bed which was so narrow I had to tuck my arm in under me or it would fall out. We got to know each other really quickly haha.

When we moved to Australia we had a teeny apartment in Melbourne for a few months and for the last little while, well since November, we have been living with his parents while we find a place.

We are looking for a house that we can completely revamp. Every time I watch the show “The Block” on TV I always think how I could never do DIY stuff like that and if you saw me making the backgrounds for my shoots you would have to agree, but here we are and its going to go one of two ways, either way we’re going to have a home of our own and that is making me so happy.

3. Insanity Workouts
Ok there was a time when I used to hit the gym hard for weight training and I loved it. I felt stronger and fitter but the problem was you just couldn’t see it. I could feel my abs, oh they were in there for sure but you couldn’t see them. Man does that suck so I figured I needed to change tactics.

My brother-in-law, Beau has the Insanity workout series and he said I should give it a go. Well woooooah nelly it is just that, insanity. High intensity cardio that leaves you heaving, huffing and near hurling. Every blood vessel in my body is pumping and the sweat oh my the sweat. I drink about a litre of water in the warmup! Don’t be put off by the instructor, Shaun T, talking about himself in the third person, join in.

Now working from home makes exercising really important for me. I spend a lot of time on my computer and I need to get outside once if not twice a day to move. I love walking and most mornings Corey and I will go for a walk together. Its our time to chat, connect, future trip and reflect on what we’re grateful for, but working out in the afternoon gives me a chance to shake off the stagnant energy from sitting at my desk all day. Don’t be scared they are hard but you can go at your pace.

3.I have enrolled for Marie Forleo’s Bschool starting March 10th
I have been so inspired by this woman since I heard Tony Robbins interview her a few years ago and I have wanted to do B-School for ages and finally the time is right. Marie is an incredible entrepreneur and her weekly show, Marie TV, provides invaluable insights for anyone with a business run with heart. She is sassy, smart and funny and through B-school she teaches thousands of people how to rock their business’s online.

4. I have enrolled for the e-course Bright Eyed and BlogHearted by the gorgeous Rachel Macdonald. Rach is a Gold Coast babe who has a wildly popular blog In Spaces Between and thriving blog coaching practice.  I love learning from people doing it well and Rach certainly  is. I know that the community of bloggers enrolled for this course are going to knock my socks off.

5. Luz Almond Milk

On Saturday I did a tasting at a health food store in Brisbane for Norridge and I shared a table next to these guys from Luz Almonds. Their almond milk is pure and delicious. No additives and preservatives like the shelf stable ones in the supermarket. They have the natural flavor made with just almonds and water and then the dates one made with medjool dates for a little added sweetness. I could drink liters of this stuff. Check out their site more info www.luzalmond.com.

Welcome

Hi I'm Jo, former yacht chef, now I style and take pretty pictures of food. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, I now live in Australia with my husband, Corey and our baby girl. Next to them my favorite things include my camera and cheese. We like real, uncomplicated food and letting nature be our muse.
