Spiced Hot Cocao

In 2 weeks time Corey and I will be moving back to the Gold Coast. We moved to Melbourne 6 months ago to establish our food biz Food Actually and we have loved it. We will officially have been here for the whole winter and let me tell you it’s not a fun winter down here. It has been freezing and even now at the end of October it feels like summer will never arrive. The Gold Coast however is hot, like can’t sleep unless you have aircon hot so I thought while its still snuggle weather here I would do some winter warming posts.

This Spiced Hot Cacao Superfood drink was so welcomed many a winters night in our apartment with no heating. Not only is it rich, velvety and smooth its also really healthy when made with real cacao powder thats packed full of antioxidants. Cocao powder is not as bitter as normal baking cocoa powder because it hasn’t been as processed and  this drink makes a creamy hot chocolate that is so much better for you than the packet mix up hot chocolates that are full of chemicals. We often used a maca/cacao powder blend to up the creaminess and goodness.

Welcome

Hi I'm Jo, former yacht chef, now I style and take pretty pictures of food. Originally from Cape Town, South Africa, I now live in Australia with my husband, Corey and our baby girl. Next to them my favorite things include my camera and cheese. We like real, uncomplicated food and letting nature be our muse.
